How The Treatment Works

The SDA Process

Periodontal Assessment & Diagnosis

(20-30 minutes)

We begin with a detailed gum health evaluation, including measurements of periodontal pocket depths. Digital X-rays and Cone Beam CT (CBCT) imaging, where appropriate, may be used to assess bone levels and determine the extent of gum disease.

Comfort Preparation & Treatment Planning

(10-15 minutes)

The treatment plan is tailored to your specific needs. Local anesthetic may be used to ensure comfort, especially in areas where deeper cleaning is required below the gumline.

Scaling – Deep Removal of Deposits

(20-45 minutes)

Using advanced ultrasonic scaling technology and fine hand instruments, we carefully remove plaque and hardened tartar from above and below the gumline. This helps reduce bacterial load and inflammation in the affected areas.

Root Planing – Smoothing and Healing Support

(20-45 minutes)

The root surfaces are gently smoothed to remove residual bacteria and encourage the gums to reattach more securely. This step helps reduce pocket depth and creates a cleaner environment that is easier to maintain at home.

For particularly nervous patients, many treatments can be performed under moderate conscious sedation to maximize comfort and reduce treatment anxiety. Sedation is administered by a board-certified anesthesiologist, allowing patients to feel relaxed throughout more complex procedures.
